BJP win's Gujarat Assembly Elections for 6th consecutive term

  The counting of votes in currently underway in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh. According to the Election Commission, the BJP is leading in both the states. While the saffron party is likely to remain in power in its stronghold Gujarat, it will dethrone the incumbent Congress government in the hill state.

    • Counting for the 182-seat Gujarat Assembly, 68-seat Himachal Pradesh elections is underway
    • As of 7:12 pm, the BJP has won 95 seats, while the Congress has bagged 75 seats in Gujarat
    • Congress’ Alpesh Thakor has won Radhanpur, while Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has bagged Rajkot (West)
    • Dalit leader Jignesh Mevani wins Vadgam
    • In Himachal, the BJP has won 34 seats, while the Congress has won 17
    Congress’ Virbhadra Singh wins Arki, but concedes defeat to the BJP in Himachal
